STUDY 5: LIVING OUT YOUR TRUEST SELF

Peter was now so bold, he was dominating, he could look straight and say to a lame man at gate beautiful, “such as I have I give thee, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” this same peter who was living the ‘normal’ hustle life became such a man that his shadow, could heal the sick, did you read that? Peter’s shadow could now heal the sick, but how did he get there? What happened between the gaps; from the time he was a normal frustrated fisher man to a man living in such realm of dominion? -  A transformation by God definitely happened.

You see, we are not created to survive, and yet we are not created to dominate on our own terms, we must be subject to the rulership and authority of God over our lives.

So, peter had a choice to either live outside God and be one of those kinds or be subject to God and live in dominion in all areas of life. That’s the blue print and he chose the latter.

This decision was the beginning of his self-discovery journey, and do you notice that immediately Jesus encountered Peter in Matthew 4:19, one of the first things Jesus did was to point peter’s attention to his becoming, he said “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men”

It is really frustrating to try to find ourselves outside God, to try to fix the puzzles of life outside God, very frustrating. So, in the journey, Jesus began to teach and nurture Peter, he became a disciple of Jesus and in Christ, he began to learn and understand better the things he ought to do and the person he should become. His priorities began to change, his perception of life changed, he-peter was going through the self-discovery and self-refining process, that transformational season was very important and is a very important part of our becoming who we are designed to be.

One of the days in his season of teaching, learning and staying with Jesus, Peter was asked a question that would totally change the paradigm of his life “But who do you say that I am?” Jesus asked, and Peter answered “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”

After this response, listen carefully to what Jesus said to Peter, he said “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah (Peter’s name of birth) for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my father in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail”

At this point, Peter had a full understanding of who he was created to be, his truest identity, has been revealed and captured in his identity was his assignment, what we will call today Purpose or destiny and that is not all, in this revelation he was also given dominion, authority to fulfil the mandate.

Jesus said to him “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loose in heaven” And in the fullness of time, through discovery, refining and being endued with power, Peter began to reign on the earth, dominating and living to the fullest the life he was designed to live.

It is on the basis of true discovery, refining of self that you can be empowered and it on the strength of those experiences happening in your life that you can truly manifest and live  your predestined life and on the strength of that, can you dominate in your sphere, exercising authority and living your best life.
