Handling Oppositions

Image
If I tell you that as you move on with Faith everything would come easy, I would be lying to you. Victors, do you want to know the truth?  As you try to pull away the thorns, as you seek to progress and move your life forward by faith, that faith will be tested and that it why it was necessary to look back and be sure that by faith, we were holding on to the right things. Friends, as much as I would love to tell you that things would come by very easy once your faith is right, truth is, it won’t. Your faith will be tried and your stamina will be tested. A few winds would blow, it would come to check how firmly rooted you are. It would come to check if your convictions are heart-ward or mouth-ward, if you are just saying them, or you truly mean them I will tell you what to do at such times. If  you have gone through Judges  chapter 6,7 and 8,  you will notice that in that story, after Gideon had pulled down the altar of baal and cut down the Asherah, and as ins...

What to Do with Faith

Image
Many times, I have been in situations where I knew the truth but did not act on the truth and you know what? Nothing really changed because my faith alone didn’t in itself sustain the ability to change my circumstances.  It was just a step towards victory, I had not held on to the victory yet. The closest illustration to give to this is; imagine a student who is studying so hard for an exam he has not registered for and never gets to write. He knows all that there is to know about the subjects to be written and is even confident that if he attempts the exams, he will get distinctions but he has not registered for the exams, he has not taken the steps that will make certain his victory, steps that will materialize his faith and birth the realities of his convictions. Do you understand what I now mean? A little look about Gideon’s story will explain more (Judges 6, 7 and 8 contains the full gist about Gideon), After he had confirmed that indeed he had found faith, truth, a new realit...

WHO TOLD YOU, YOU ARE MIGHTY?

Image
I had a funny experience that taught me so much about getting to understand the root of a matter before making personal conclusions and living life based on those conclusions; I got talking with a friend who never wanted to give up his opinion over the subject, on my own end too, my candid opinion was highly esteemed, so we got talking and talking, giving different reasons about why we think that what we believe is the truth, in the midst of that conversation and after about 45 mins of trying to defend our believes, it sincerely occurred to me that I  had no strong basis for that believe,  I had been taught by different people with different views and testimonies about the subject, but I had not done a thorough search to find out what really the truth was, I had not found the truth for myself, I only built on people's ideas and experiences about the subject, and that was a dangerous place to stand because the day the Faith was tried it became shaky, it couldn't defend itself. ...

REFLECTIONS - LESSON 2

Image
#TruthsEveryTeenagerShouldKnow  #VictorsNotVictims TRUTH 2: YOUR FEARS CANNOT STAND YOUR FAITH What experiences have you allowed to define your life? What circumstances have you allowed to describe your outcomes in life? The defeats, failures, fears really can't hold you down when  you hold on to who you truly are - A VICTOR. You are Mighty, Your fears can't stand that! Our Confession... I am mighty, my fears can't stand my faith. I am a conqueror, my fears can't stand my faith. I am full of wonders, my fears can't stand my faith. I am full of possibilities, my fears can't stand my faith. I am VICTORIOUS, my fears can't stand MY FAITH.

LESSON 2- Me: Mighty?

Image
I had this experience some day in my secondary school;  it was in my school fellowship, that Sunday is a day I have not forgotten till today. I really can’t remember everything that happened that day but I do remember how I struggled to hide my face behind the pillars away from the about 200 people who were applauding and waiting for me to step forward and stand in front of them. I heard the man call my name “Esther Archibong” but I couldn’t believe him or should I say I couldn’t believe myself. I didn’t understand why it had to be me, why I would be selected amidst many other people to become a LEADER.  It didn’t seem to resonate with who I thought I was; I thought I was little, small, not capable, not worthy of honour, not deserving. I thought having good was luxury, I thought it was luck, because for me at that time I had seen nothing good about myself; the timidity and inferiority harboured had eaten me up so deep just like it did to Gideon the young man I introduce...

REFLECTIONS ON TRUTH 1

Image
TRUTH 1: DO NOT PAMPER FEAR ...Victors Do Not Pamper Fear Experiencing fearful situations can be really unpleasant but much more awful is the continuous unease, panic, and degut that living in fear can bring to our lives. We can never live our best when we live in fear, we will literally sneak around life like Gideon sneaked to Ophrah for wheats and surely, we will never get the best of life living that way. Think about what will make a mighty man of valour sneak around and act beggarly. WORD FOCUS:  Stronghold: - A Fortified place of safety CONFESSION: I am a mighty man of valour and will never sneak around and act beggarly in life. I make a decision to confront my fears, I do not hide or pamper them anymore, I am VICTORIOUS.

OUT-OF-FEAR THINKING

Image
Does it sound like I made a mistake in the topic? Okay let’s rearrange it this way, Thinking- Out- of-Fear. A young man lived in Shechem a Canaanite city; His name was Gideon. He probably would have been tall, dark skinned or fair, I am not sure but this young man and his townsmen lived as slaves in their own land. They often had this violent Midianites, Amalekites and people from the East, come up to forcefully ravage their crops and live them impoverished and sadly, some of them had to live in dens in the mountains, caves and strongholds. One of those days Gideon sneaked to Ophrah, in the city of Manasseh which was 6 miles south west of Shechem and all he wanted to do was get some wheats but he had to beat the wheats in a winepress in order to hide it from the adversaries. On that day, something interestingly remarkable happened in Gideon’s life. We will discuss about the interesting encounter Gideon had in the next lesson but before we do that, Let’s make a few considerations: Have ...
