Handling Oppositions

If I tell you that as you move on with Faith everything would come easy, I would be lying to you.

Victors, do you want to know the truth?

As you try to pull away the thorns, as you seek to progress and move your life forward by faith, that faith will be tested and that it why it was necessary to look back and be sure that by faith, we were holding on to the right things.

Friends, as much as I would love to tell you that things would come by very easy once your faith is right, truth is, it won’t. Your faith will be tried and your stamina will be tested. A few winds would blow, it would come to check how firmly rooted you are.

It would come to check if your convictions are heart-ward or mouth-ward, if you are just saying them, or you truly mean them I will tell you what to do at such times.

If  you have gone through Judges  chapter 6,7 and 8,  you will notice that in that story, after Gideon had pulled down the altar of baal and cut down the Asherah, and as instructed, erected a new altar unto God and made sacrifice on it, remember he did all this that night, the next morning, just when he started making progress, away from fear and with faith making a move towards victory, just then, the men of the city arose and sought to kill him(Gideon).

They wanted to maintain the status quo, they were used to the normal and wanted to keep it, regardless of whether it had kept them in fear for a long time, they had become use to smallness, fear, timidity and this new step of faith Gideon was taking was totally strange to them.

It was not the norm, it was different and they opposed him, so, now you’ve learnt to engage your faith, you will have to learn to take steps in doggedness, doggedness because just taking steps isn’t enough. In the path of faith, one of the first things that will greet you is opposition, sometimes almost immediately.

It is the same with every form of moving ahead, that is why we have the word Friction in science, explaining the resistance that happens between two surfaces when one is trying to achieve relative motion, friction always works in the direction opposite to the direction in which the object is moving or trying to move. It’s a natural phenomenon, so opposition is natural to movement, progress, growth. And that is why fervency is a virtue we must adopt in this journey of victory.

So, when you see the oppositions come to pull you away from track, when you see the thorns persist, know that, that it is just another friction happening to your movement, and shouldn’t stop you from moving forward.  Newton’s second law of motion had clearly stated that the acceleration of a body is directly proportional to the force acting on it and this is true even in our daily walk and progress in life, we will have to forcefully advance, regardless of oppositions.

Some people may certainly come around to mock your steps of faith, some may come to distract you, others to discourage, some others even to stop you, and what do you do at such times? You forcefully advance, make progress, don’t let those things limit you.

They will keep coming, oppositions will not stop coming and that is why you must learn to gather up courage, stamina and strength to keep advancing in this journey of Faith.

TRUTH 5: Your Journey of Faith demands Courage, learn to gather up Courage to keep advancing…
