LESSON 2- Me: Mighty?

I had this experience some day in my secondary school;

it was in my school fellowship, that Sunday is a day I have not forgotten till today.

I really can’t remember everything that happened that day but I do remember how I struggled to hide my face behind the pillars away from the about 200 people who were applauding and waiting for me to step forward and stand in front of them.

I heard the man call my name “Esther Archibong” but I couldn’t believe him or should I say I couldn’t believe myself. I didn’t understand why it had to be me, why I would be selected amidst many other people to become a LEADER.  It didn’t seem to resonate with who I thought I was; I thought I was little, small, not capable, not worthy of honour, not deserving. I thought having good was luxury, I thought it was luck, because for me at that time I had seen nothing good about myself; the timidity and inferiority harboured had eaten me up so deep just like it did to Gideon the young man I introduced to you in the first lesson.

 While in the winepress of Ophrah Gideon had an experience that changed the course of his life and consequently the results in his life also had to change. He was threshing wheat in a winepress because fear wouldn’t let him go to the threshing floor, he was sore scared the Midianites would literally catch him and forcefully take his wheats as spoil and as he was fearfully winnowing the wheat the angel of the Lord came to him and greeted him -“ The Lord is  with you, O mighty man of valour.” Gideon may have checked around to see if there was indeed a huge, war-ready around but No! he noticed the Angel had looked to him and called him not just a man of valour, but a mighty man of valour. It was strange to Gideon just like it was strange to me as was called up as a LEADER, I couldn’t match the reality with the fact, we both couldn’t.

What was the reality? The city was impoverished, they were fear driven, fear-bound, that didn’t look like the life of a “Mighty man of valour” as he was called. The enemies were seemingly winning, they were plundering them and sending them to their hide-outs and caves, that was their current reality so how come this new “Mighty man of valour idea” where did it come from?

We will get to know more about this as we continue in this journey, but before we move any further

Let’s pause and think about these: Could it be that we have been compelled to live less, because of certain occurrences or events that had happened in our lives? Couldn’t it be that there is more to us than we may have considered or even thought about. Take this moment and think.

So, what about the indifferences, the pain, the things currently happening in your life that you are trying to rack your head around, could it be that regardless of all these you are truly mighty?

Yes, you are! And the quicker you realize and enforce that understanding, the quicker the fears take to flight. Truth is they can’t stand but does it mean that once you realize this the fears automatically disappear? We will learn more about how this works as we continue in this exciting journey but for now know this truth, TRUTH 2: YOUR FEARS CAN’T STAND YOUR FAITH

Please don’t forget to send in your contributions because I am eagerly waiting for those wisdom filled words to learn from, and remember you can ask any questions that may be bothering you, concerning this, till we meet soon think about what to do with TRUTH 2 and the areas of your life you can apply it.
