What to Do with Faith
Many times, I have been in situations where I knew the truth but did not act on the truth and you know what? Nothing really changed because my faith alone didn’t in itself sustain the ability to change my circumstances.
It was just a step towards victory, I had not held on to the victory yet.
The closest illustration to give to this is; imagine a student who is studying so hard for an exam he has not registered for and never gets to write. He knows all that there is to know about the subjects to be written and is even confident that if he attempts the exams, he will get distinctions but he has not registered for the exams, he has not taken the steps that will make certain his victory, steps that will materialize his faith and birth the realities of his convictions.
Do you understand what I now mean?
A little look about Gideon’s story will explain more (Judges 6, 7 and 8 contains the full gist about Gideon), After he had confirmed that indeed he had found faith, truth, a new reality, his new identity, immediately, he was given a task, that same night he had to put his new found faith to action; First the LORD told him to pull down the altar of baal (the unreal, fake, idea of a god that had existed for too long and couldn’t help them in the face of defiant midianites), cut down the Asherah (the negative symbol of a lifeless, inexistent goddess that the people of the land had staged their confidence on) And build an altar unto Him where he (Gideon) would offer burnt sacrifice.
It certainly proves that having genuine faith without taking directed, courageous steps will still produce fruitlessness. So yes! There is a doing part of faith, genuine faith must take genuine actions and that is how we can get results that emphasizes our victory but notice that one of the first things that the LORD told Gideon to do was to pull down the unreal idea of a god-baal that his people had upheld and nurtured, again, he was to cut down the undesirable symbol of a lifeless goddess-Asherah. It was after that, that he would build an altar unto the Lord.
This is the time to take guided actions, time to confront the old ideas that has kept you defeated for so long, time to pull down the unreal; things you have now discovered are not true, with faith, confront them, go against them, the false identity you’ve staged in your life, wrong philosophies you’ve upheld, it is time to cut them down so you can begin to build your life towards the right direction, on the path of genuine FAITH.
We can’t build and get tangible results in our lives when we have not dealt with the things that do not permit progress in our lives; they could be anything, and when we have truly taken time to know the source of our believes; the things we may have held unto, we will know the ones that are toxic to our lives, our associations, our destinies and generally our growth and subsequently our victory.
For such toxic believes, pull them down, without apologies, they can only retard, they do not support growth and victory. So, what if it is an attitude? What if you have grown all your life believing them. My response: Do you truly want to grow? Do you truly what to live the victorious life you are meant to live? Then you must let go the negative vibes, those believes that constantly choke your progress.
TRUTH 4: You can’t stay with the thorns and grow, pull them away!
Remember that it lies within your power to pull them away, don’t permit toxic believes, #PullThemAway and do well to ask if you are still not sure about how to go about this.
