Breaking The Code Of Silence...#2


Mary thought she was just so lucky to have a friend who was overly  nice to her.
It was her first time in the boarding house and barely 2 weeks since she resumed when Cynthia started coming around her, she offered help in her areas of difficulties, bought gifts for her and protected her from other senior students who wanted to send her on errands.
Mary never knew Cynthia's kind gestures had expectations, she soon got to know. Cynthia began to make demands; "Can you come and sleep on my bed tonight?",  "Let's stay back in the hostel during afternoon preparatory class", "Come to my room let's have a bath together". From unyielding  pleas, it became orders "Come to my room by 10pm today!"
Mary discovered it was no longer a joke because Cynthia began to make her stay in the boarding house very unbearable, it  was easy because Cynthia was a senior student  plus she was physically stronger than her. From one pressure to another, Cynthia began to forcefully molest her and threatened that she tells no body about it.
What should Mary do in this situation?

- Mary is trapped; she is psychologically, emotionally and physically abused and can barely  concentrate on her studies.
- Mary has been introduced to a system that constantly drains her, fear grips her and she is slowly moving into the cold arms of insecurity and timidity.

Do you not think it would have been different...
-If Mary trusted her parents so much and could talk to them about anything, including her sexual experiences.
-If Mary's school had a system that could handle such cases effectively.
-If Mary was taught how to identify and avoid the molesters.
-If Mary was taught to speak up promptly.

 This lockdown can be just another opportunity for you to become your child's best friend.

  Saturday was going to be the d-day and I prepared 'so hard' in my little way for it; my dad had bought for me a compilation of past questions in Mathematics, English and General knowledge and I didn't want to miss my chance.
