...THAT FAITHFUL DAY
Have you ever been in a fix before? You turn left, and then to the right yet you find no answers?
We all get to that point in life where our decisions will change the next course of our lives and most times these moments come unannounced.
A simple yes! Or No! can open a new season for our lives.
Have you ever thought about what would have happened if that girl who died last night in the abortion room said a blatant No! to the guy when he tried luring her.
And do you not think that if the guy who is now stuck 2 years in jail, has an opportunity to take back time, he would never had said yes! When his friends asked him to follow them this once for an attack.
In few minutes, these persons had their lives changed and moments as these come for all of us; the moments where we would have to take a stand and make a choice for our lives.
There will be times when life will test even our greatest convictions. Our obedience, allegiance, faith will be tested. You know those times right? Watch out for them because they could be times of our wildest victories or deepest pains, that the strength of our value system will be tried.
As young people, I know the pressure that comes with peers, I know it is not quite easy to say No! when everyone around is saying Yes!
I know how tough it is to remain faithful when every other person is not, I know how much courage we need to stand out as the odd one amongst many evens, yet it is worthy, that we protect the right core values.
Just so the next time someone tries to persuade you into doing something, you take your time and think over it; think about the consequences of the action to the next 10 to 20 years of your life and as you do, you will have ample time to compare values and the effect of the decision on other people.
See how the devil approached Eve in Genesis 3; he subtly said to her "Can it really be that God has said, you shall not eat from every tree of the garden?" he came as though he was concerned, like he wanted her good. He made an offer to her that was nothing compared to the splendour, glory and dominion she possessed, the sad thing is- she gave in to satan's deception and became lost in death.
Friends, who would ever want to trade glory, dominion, honour, and beauty for some fruits? I know that some of us think we would have done better than Eve did. How sure can we be?
The coming days will definitely test how much we are willing to obey God's commands. The darkest corners will reveal the true content of our hearts. Those lonely days will truly tell.
The devil still speaks in the seemingly friendly tone, he comes in the most unlikely ways and tell us those things he thinks would appeal to us; he projects the immediate pleasure, and tries to keeps us from seeing, 1. The consequences of our actions 2. The greater good we would lose for the petit pleasure,
He comes in different forms, he could speak through that friend who is still persuading you to lie to your parents so you would make it to the party, he speaks through that guy that claims he loves you so much but can't wait to have sex with you; he says it's not a bad idea to try it just once before marriage.
He has not lost his skill of luring and deceiving men, he says he love you, that he is your friend, believe me, he is your arc enemy and only seeks to destroy you.
Will you stand on the Lord's side on that day, when you will be face to face with temptation? That day when no eyes can see you and no one can judge you, remember on that faithful day that grace is available to you to say no!
